Tomorrow Kian turns 4-1/2. Quasi birthdays aren't something that we think about much anymore but for some reason it came to our awareness a week or so ago and we've been counting it down. The first couple years after Kian's birth it seemed like there were always new milestones: every week and every month and every "first" was counted. I blogged it all! But now that the landmarks aren't coming on as thick and fierce as they were its easy to lose track and forget about how much change is still happening. He's growing like a weed and our little chunky monkey looks (and acts) more like a long-armed spider monkey than the chubby little baby gorilla he once was. As slow as the changes come now compared to before it still sneaks up on you: one day you realize they are talking and the next day they are writing sonnets, its crazy.
Okay, once I track down the whereabouts of my camera I will download the few pictures that I have from last weekend. Saturday Kian got to hang in Snoqualmie with the Lutz clan while Daddy nordic skied, then on Sunday we both went up to the Summit to ski and then still made it back down in time for the Superbowl party at the Krebsbach's.

Lets Talk About Snow First
... and skiing. Well, from the looks of it I haven't really been doing a whole ton of it, but from the looks of it I have been cherry picking my days because all you're seeing is bluebird days. You're right and right. I haven't done a ton of skiing, welcome to city living, but I'm now into my third week of nordic and I am working on a couple mid-week skis and I'm just coming off a back-to-back-to-back weekend of amazing days. Finally I'm starting to feel my ski-legs coming around and its feeling great. When the weather is this nice you just can't complain. Its been one of those clear-cold streaks that I love so much, but right now, as I speak, the clouds are building as a powerful low moves into the area which raises temps as well as prospects of rain. Of course rain should equal snow so I can't much complain-- its about time for a new layer of good stuff before the next cold snap sets in! **cross cross**

up on the Chiwawa. This is many miles into my first Snopark ski of the season: the road to Trinity.

This coming weekend will be either a trip to the Methow or back to Chiwawa/Leavenworth.
