Veterans Day Buzzcuts

Perhaps we're starting a new tradition!!

 First you take a long haired hippy boy and sit him down in the tub.

 After round 1 with the clippers we've got a slight bowlcut going.  Nope, not happy.

 Trimmed up the top with scissors but still not pleased... he wanted the full No 2 clipper cut.

That's it, now we're talking buzzcut!

 

Kian talked Daddy into a partial buzz but I stuck to a No 4 on the sides.

First Day of Kindergarten

 The day didn't start off as enthusiastically as expected, but maybe it was just the oatmeal.

Unacceptable Behavior!

Its just plan unacceptable to have allowed this much time to elapse between posts!  Its particularly embarrassing when this pledge to keep up my blogging is only a few measely posts separated from my New Years' vows of the same that were made about 9-months ago.  Just sickening!  Okay, bygones, time to start over.

Kian's 5th Birthday Festivus

 The birthday party was a pool-themed party and included his friends from his pre-school from the prior two-years.  Annie made the cake and had quite the adventure putting it together but I'd ruin the story if I tried to tell it-- its one of those stories that only cake-bakers would relate to, and I can't pretend as much.

 Apparently the hottub was the place to be although the pool-side had all kinds of water features
and bucket dumpers.  I wasn't there so nor was my camera and my photography prowess.

Good morning birthday two-some!  (fyi-both have Aug 8 birthdays)

 On the breakfast menu:  maple-flavored cinnamon rolls with bacon bits.

A Half Birthday

Tomorrow Kian turns 4-1/2.  Quasi birthdays aren't something that we think about much anymore but for some reason it came to our awareness a week or so ago and we've been counting it down.  The first couple years after Kian's birth it seemed like there were always new milestones: every week and every month and every "first" was counted.  I blogged it all!  But now that the landmarks aren't coming on as thick and fierce as they were its easy to lose track and forget about how much change is still happening.  He's growing like a weed and our little chunky monkey looks (and acts) more like a long-armed spider monkey than the chubby little baby gorilla he once was.  As slow as the changes come now compared to before it still sneaks up on you: one day you realize they are talking and the next day they are writing sonnets, its crazy. 

Okay, once I track down the whereabouts of my camera I will download the few pictures that I have from last weekend.  Saturday Kian got to hang in Snoqualmie with the Lutz clan while Daddy nordic skied, then on Sunday we both went up to the Summit to ski and then still made it back down in time for the Superbowl party at the Krebsbach's. 

Precious Few

 There was a lot of football going on around here a few weeks back.  The Seahawks were on a roll!
We don't have TV so we hit up a neighborhood coffee shop for a few of the games and Kian was afraid to show his teams colors.  Its easy when you're rooting for the home team.
