Summer Rewind 1: Seafair

Seafair's finale weekend has become one of our favorites because it falls near Kiki's birthday and the Blue Angels come to town -- forever the twain shall meet, or so it seems.  We caught 2 out of the 4 days and the weather was perfect for spectating, soaking up sun, and swimming.

Rode our bikes down the water to avoid the parking nightmare, the chariot loaded with food, drink and water toys, and we had a blast on one of the nicest weekends of summer.  Enjoy the pics!

Summer Rewind Comin' Up

Its been crazy.  Work has been nuts.  I've been lame.  Summer has been short.  Kian has been amazing.  There is soooo much to report!

Where do I start?

That's the problem with taking 2+ months between posts.  There is absolutely no way that I will ever bring you up to speed on whats been happening in the life of the little guy.  He just turned 4-- you knew that-- and his life and personality and little being has been evolving with leaps and bounds and a few bumps.  Its been truly amazing (for daddy), and every day I kick myself for not sitting down right this instance to write up the latest adventure-in-the-life... I will get to it tomorrow, tonight, okay this weekend when I have more time...  yeah right, lam-o.  So here it has been more than 2 months since my last pathetic post.  I'm sure that I have lamented round and round like this before so I'll cease my wimpering and get down to it.

Well, why not start with right now... tonight, just before I put Kian to bed he was working hard on perfecting a new sound that was an iteration of something he had been doing for awhile: a prrrrrrr, a kitty cat type of prrrr.  I would say that it all started a few months ago when we noticed, for some reason, he was rolling his R's and even his hard-R sounds.  Not sure I can put this in words but he was rolling the second D sounds in daddy, da-rrrra!  It was really cute and because we made a ta-do about it he kept at it and eventually the rolling r's were extended, contorted, abrupted and changed according to our reactions.  Playful language experimentation, probably classic pre-kindergarten stuff.  His Leo the stuffed Leopard has a nice little prrr but just tonight he turned that prrr into a roar and is calling it a motorcycle sound.  Sure it is, listen.

Alright, so I've accomplished about 30-minutes of backtracking into our summer and I'm already have to call time out and call this quits.  This is one of the reasons I'm having so much trouble finding time to post--- gotta sleep sometime!
